About our Ecovillas
Ecovilla is built on the vision that life thrives when we live in connection with nature, ourselves and our purpose. Here, families, elders, entrepreneurs, singles, artists, visionaries and healers believe in creating a lifestyle that is good for our health, our children and the nature that surrounds us.
Our communities are rooted in regenerated land that we brought back to life by planting thousands of (fruit) trees and creating organic vegetable gardens. As the land recovered, wildlife like monkeys and many bird species returned.
Life in Ecovilla is a reminder that community doesn’t have to mean giving up privacy or comfort. It means choosing connection, generosity and respect.
If you walk around Ecovilla in the afternoon, you’ll see children from all over the world running barefoot, laughing and switching between languages as they play. The river, the pool, the playground, the nature reserve: their options for fun are basically endless.
La Ecovilla Original (LEV)
La Ecovilla Original was founded in 2012 by Marcelo Valansi, driven by a clear vision: to live in connection with nature, community and sustainability.
On 42 acres of deforested land in Costa Rica’s central valley, a new way of living took shape. The land was regenerated and transformed into food forests, shared spaces and thoughtfully designed homes. Families from around the world came together, united by the desire to live consciously and in connection with nature.
La Ecovilla Original became a thriving intentional eco-community and a global reference for what regenerative living can look and feel like.
Ecovilla San Mateo (ESM)
Ecovilla San Mateo is the next evolution of the Ecovilla vision, created to bring intentional community living to a much greater scale.
Set on 200 hectares of regenerated land, it offers space, freedom and a strong connection to nature. The majority of the land is protected as a private nature reserve, shaping daily life around forests, rivers and wildlife.
Built on the same values as La Ecovilla Original, the community grows from a foundation of regeneration, shared purpose and respect for the land. It brings together people from 43 nationalities into one shared way of living.
With room for 300 families, spread across six neighbourhoods, each with its own common areas, daily life unfolds with space, rhythm and a strong sense of community. Ecovilla San Mateo shows how an intentional community can grow in scale while staying true to its soul.
Ecovilla Cabo Blanco (ECB)
Ecovilla Cabo Blanco is our newest property in Costa Rica. It’s bordered by a Blue Zone, where ancient ways meet nature preservation. The best place for natural reserve, sea, and surf lovers. You will also enjoy Santa Teresa’s great dining and nightlife scene.
Currently under development and rooted in the same regenerative principles, jungle, waterfalls and sunrise views await.
